In Arkansas, about 60 percent of children have experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE). The national average is 45 percent. A child’s brain is 90% fully formed by the age of five. We need to have an early childhood workforce who is equipped with the latest research, strategies and skills to help children where they are in their developmental journey right now. Please support AECA to continue sharing the tools that early childhood educators, families and children can use to create a positive IMPACT on Adverse Childhood Experiences.

Your donation supports the development of educators in Arkansas as the generation that will provide high-quality care and education for children and their families statewide. When we invest in early childhood professionals, we can show up for others and create the IMPACT that children and families across Arkansas need.

Your gift to AECA provides educators in Arkansas the resources and tools they need to help the children and families they serve. It also helps us to help educators themselves, with programs like T.E.A.C.H. and our annual conference. The more they know, the more they can help our youngest generation – creating a ripple effect of IMPACT.

Did you know...?

A large number of children in Arkansas have experienced life-altering trauma, according to a survey reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). So large in fact, Arkansas was ranked number one in the United States for having the highest rate of childhood trauma in 2019.

Take a look at what some educators in Arkansas had to say about REAL children they stand for…

I STAND FOR

the child who is afraid to go home every night as his home is not a safe place to be.

I STAND FOR

a four-year-old girl who escapes her house to get food.

I STAND FOR

the three-year-old boy who misses his father who died by suicide.

I STAND FOR

a two-year-old boy who was physically abused.

I STAND FOR

the five-year-old girl who was taken into care and lost everything she knew as her normal.

I STAND FOR

the three-year-old whose mom, dad and grandparents are all incarcerated.

Now, take another look at what else amazing educators in Arkansas are taking a stand for…

I STAND FOR

every child that needs that ONE person who cares for them – no matter what.

I STAND FOR

a boy who felt like he was nothing but now knows he is something to me.

I STAND FOR

the four-year-old girl that others labeled as “bad” and gave up on. I will never give up on her!

I STAND FOR

the right of every child to come to my classroom and feel safe, happy and loved.

I STAND FOR

all the children who need to know they are capable of anything – don’t give up!

I STAND FOR

the right for children to express themselves without fear of abuse. You can be yourself when you’re with me.
