It’s National Apprenticeship Week and we want to celebrate!
The T.E.A.C.H. Arkansas Apprenticeship program is a new on-the-job training program offered to eligible scholars seeking their associate degree in early childhood education. This two-year experience will bring a new level of support to T.E.A.C.H. scholars which will include skill-building and one-on-one mentoring opportunities under a seasoned classroom expert. The apprenticeship is a chance to receive on-the-job training tied to evidence-based competency standards at the same time scholars are earning their degree.
Whitney Herrick said the mentor in the program helped to ‘rearrange the classroom to better serve our children’ and ‘facilitate lesson plans to make sure they are engaging enough for the children to want to participate’.
