Thank you for staying with me for Step 2 of moving off the sidelines.

Today our audience is ECE colleagues and stakeholders.

Our message is:  We Are Stronger Together!

Our modeThis flyer.

I think this one is an easy one. If you are reading this post, you already have some connection to AECA. And if you are like me, it is where I find my people. People who share my passion for this work. People who are child-centered in their practices. People who model what it is to be a lifelong learner.

You know the phrase “birds of a feather” well, the idea is that if you are “those things” you know other people that are “those things.” If that is true, then they should be members too.

Just like the flyer says, together we can be a collective voice championing fair policies that support educators and families. I told you in my first post that I had the opportunity to speak to a group of legislators on Tuesday. At one point, I got the chance to tell them a tiny bit about AECA and “our 1,200 members.” I could see by the look in their eyes that they were surprised and a bit impressed by that number. Imagine if every one of us advocated to a friend and encouraged them to join too. I would LOVE to say “our 2,500 members” the next time I have this opportunity.

I am pledging to send an email to 10 people that I think would be interested in joining.  What is your plan to step off the sidelines and add strength to our numbers? I’d LOVE to hear how it goes.

Geania B. Dickey
