Only 56% of Arkansas households have completed the Census, and some communities have much lower response rates. For each person not counted, our state could lose $33,000 over the next decade. To ensure our programs have the federal funds they need, we must have an accurate count. Thankfully, with the deadline to complete the Census extended to October 31st, we still have time to do outreach with children, parents and other guardians.

As we plan for back-to-school, if you would like to encourage families to complete the census, the Census Bureau has free materials like posters and flyers you can share with children and families. And if you are hosting events, they also have things like pens and tote bags you can request and have mailed directly to you.

If you would like to receive digital tools and resources to promote the 2020 Census on Social Media, websites and newsletters, or printed materials to distribute at back-to-school events and other activities, the Census Bureau would like to provide these materials and shipping free of charge. To order, send an email to John Hicks, Community Partnership Specialist for Arkansas, at john.t.hicks@2020census.gov. Please provide your name, daytime phone number, organization’s name, and a shipping address (No PO Boxes because someone must sign for the shipment).
