We have a CALL TO ACTION! We need your help!

The Coronavirus pandemic has demonstrated how essential child care is for our families, communities, and economy. While the newly introduced HEROES Act will help, $7 billion for child care won’t meet the needs of children, families, educators, or businesses. There are two actions you can take today to help ensure child care programs have the funding they need.

Tag your member of Congress on social media today, using the hashtag #FundChildCare, to share YOUR reason why they need to support increased funding for child care.

Call your member of Congress by texting “CARE” to 747-464 or calling 1-888-523-8974. You can say:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent of [MEMBER OF CONGRESS]. I’m calling to thank you for the emergency child care measures passed so far in response to the COVID-19 crisis and to ask you to push for additional, significant investments for child care in the HEROES Act. The current $7 billion is not enough.

The U.S. stands to lose half of our child care industry due to coronavirus, and unless Congress provides significant funding for the industry, parents won’t be able to go back to work and the economy will not be able to reopen. Congress must take action and provide significant funding in the HEROES Act.

If you receive a negative reaction, you can say: I hope you reconsider. Your constituents need secure child care options. We can’t afford to not have the child care we need to keep children safe and learning as families return to work. Thank you for your time.

If you receive a positive reaction, you can say: Thank you for listening. I hope you’ll ask House leadership to increase the funding level for child care in the HEROES Act. We need at least $50 billion for child care to stabilize and support this essential industry. Thank you for your time.
