KIDS FIRST serves children with special healthcare needs ranging in age from six weeks to five years. In our pediatric day healthcare clinics, children diagnosed as having a medical condition known to place them at risk for developmental delays and disabilities receive intensive intervention.
The Early Childhood Development Specialist provides an individualized developmentally based early intervention for a group of children birth-five years with special health care needs and developmental delays at a UAMS Kids First clinic. S/He works as a member of a physician directed interprofessional team to implement the planned treatment and achieve developmental services goals outlined in each child’s treatment plan.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with documentation that 12 hours of coursework in Early Childhood, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Studies has been completed PLUS six (6) months documented experience working with children.

Good communication skills with adults and children is required.
State accreditation in Early Childhood Special Education OR current Child Development Associate Certificate may be substituted in lieu of the documented 12 hours of coursework in Early Childhood, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Studies.
Candidate must pass state abuse registry checks, drug screen, submit to a TB skin test and required immunizations or provide proof of immunizations.
This position is subject to a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. A criminal conviction or arrest pending adjudication alone shall not disqualify an applicant. Any criminal history will be evaluated in relationship to job responsibilities and business necessity.
